National News

  1. Union Aviation Minister Hardeep Singh Puri announced that India formed air bubble arrangement with Kenya and Bhutan. Now the total number of nations, with which these temporary arrangements are formed are 15.
  2. South Eastern Railway has rolled out “Operation My Saheli” under the Framework of “Nirbhaya Fund to boost the security of women passengers in trains during the entire journey. The pilot version of the project “Operation my Saheli” has been introduced in 3 trains: Howrah-Yesvantpur Duronto Special, Howrah- Ahmedabad Special and Howrah-Mumbai Special.
  3. Suresh Prabhu took part in the Third G-20 Sherpas virtual meeting that was held under Saudi Arabia’s presidency.
  4. The Defence Research and Development Organisation (DRDO) on Wednesday successfully test-fired the BrahMos surface-to-surface cruise missile (strike range of approximately 300 km) from Balasore in Odisha.
  5. Private equity firm General Atlantic will invest ₹3,675 crore in Reliance Retail Ventures Ltd and total investment of Silver Lake becomes ₹9,375 crore (2.13% stake) .
    Silver Lake Partners, an existing investor in Reliance Retail Ventures, also agreed to invest an additional ₹1,875 crore (0.84% equity stake) into the retailer.
  6. Science and Technology Minister Harsh Vardhan has launched CSIR (Council of Scientific & Industrial Research) technologies for rural development.
  7. Prime Minister Narendra Modi released the new logo for the Jal Jeevan Mission. He also unveiled the ‘Margadarshika for Gram Panchayats and Paani Samitis under Jal Jeevan Mission’ (Guidelines for the Village Panchayats and Water Committees).
  8. Minister of Social Justice and Empowerment ThawarChand Gehlot e –launched “Ambedkar Social Innovation & Incubation Mission” (ASIIM) under the Venture Capital fund for scheduled casts.
  9. Amnesty International (AI) India has decided to shut its operations in the country after the “complete freezing” of its bank accounts by the Indian government.
  10. Flipkart announced a partnership with Bajaj Allianz General Insurance Company to offer a cyber insurance, ‘Digital Suraksha Group Insurance’ for customers in the country.
  11. Tata Steel has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Council of Scientific and Industrial Research (CSIR) to work together in the areas of carbon Capture, Utilisation and Storage (CCUS).
  12. Union Minister for Petroleum and Natural Gas Dharmendra Pradhan addressed the GCTC Energy Security Conference 2020 which took place from September 29 to September 30, 2020 and organised by Global Counter Terrorism Council.

  1. Incumbent Finance Minister Alexander De Croo has become the new Prime Minister of Belgium.
  2. India participated in the Accountability Breakfast 2020, held on 29 September alongside the UN General Assembly 2020, hosted by the Partnership for Maternal, Newborn & Child Health (PMNCH), White Ribbon Alliance, and WE. Motive of this event was secure global accountability for protecting women’s, children’s, and adolescents’ health and rights during the COVID-19 crisis and beyond.
  3. India’s NITI Aayog and Embassy of the Netherlands, New Delhi have signed an SOI (Statement of Intent) on September 28, 2020 to support the decarbonisation and energy transition agenda for accommodating cleaner and more energy.
  4. A private company, Origin Space in Beijing (China) is set to send out the world’s first asteroid mining robot into space in November 2020. The robot has been named ‘asteroid mining robot’ by the space start-up in China.

  1. Sourav Ganguly has been appointed by Bengal Peerless Housing as its brand ambassador.
  2. Mikako Kotani has been named by the Organising Committee of the Tokyo 2020 Olympics as its new sports director. She has replaced Koji Murofushi.

  1. Public sector Indian Bank has unveiled its IB-eNote facility, aimed at providing a paperless working environment. Indian Bank also unveiled ‘Ind Guru’, an e-learning platform for its employees that offers technology-enabled solutions aimed at capacity building.
  2. Reserve Bank of India (RBI) has deferred the implementation of regulations under Basel III capital till 1 April 2021.
