The University of Alberta awards $32 million each year in undergraduate scholarships, awards, and financial support to all kinds of students. The Faculty of Graduate Studies and Research offers $26 million scholarships every year.
International Student Scholarship
Students with higher academics who enter the first year of their undergraduate degree studying on a Student Visa Permit will receive up to $9,000, depending on the average of admissions.
How to Apply
No separate application is required. You will be evaluated for this scholarship when you apply for admission at University of Alberta. Your eligibility will be based on your high school admission average at the time of your admission offer.
Gold Standard Scholarship
The top 5% of the students who take admission in undergraduate programs in each faculty could receive up to $6,000, depending on admission average.

UNIVERSITY OF ALBERTA INTERNATIONAL COUNTRY SCHOLARSHIP
Students with superior academics who will be entering their first year of an undergraduate degree studying on a Student Visa Permit could receive up to $5,000.

UNIVERSITY OF ALBERTA INTERNATIONAL ENTRANCE SCHOLARSHIP
Students with a superior admission average and demonstrated leadership qualities can receive up to $40,000 (payable over 4 years) upon entry into the first year of an undergraduate degree on a student visa permit.
Application form will be released in early Winter 2023.
How to apply
You must apply to an undergraduate degree program before you can apply for any entrance scholarships.
So at first apply for an undergraduate course at University of Alberta then after logging in apply for an entrance Scholarship.
you will be required to submit an activity summary (demonstrate engagement, accomplishment, and leadership.), respond to 4 long answer questions each containing 250 words,
answer a couple of yes/no questions and provide contact information for a reference (not a family member).

INTERNATIONAL ENTRANCE LEADERSHIP SCHOLARSHIP
Students with an admission average of 80%+ can receive Scholarship up to $7,500 upon entry into the first year of an undergraduate degree on a student visa permit.
Application process is the same as the International Entrance Scholarship.
MAY QUON UNDERGRADUATE SCHOLARSHIP
Students with a superior admission average and demonstrated financial need can receive up to $45,000 (payable over 4 years) upon entry into the first year of an undergraduate degree on a student visa permit.
Students must be the citizens of China or Hong Kong.
Application process is the same as the International Entrance Scholarship.
UNIVERSITY OF ALBERTA GLOBAL CITIZEN SCHOLARSHIP FOR IB DIPLOMA INTERNATIONAL STUDENTS
Students with a superior admission average, strong International Baccalaureate Diploma academic position
and financial requirements displayed can receive up to $53,000 per year for up to 4 years after entering the first year of an undergraduate degree on a student visa permit.

University of Alberta Graduate Entrance Scholarship
University of Alberta provides this scholarship to newly admitted both domestic and international graduate students for educational support.
Award value- $17,500 for Master’s Students and $21,000 for Doctoral students.
Domestic students will receive an additional $5,800, international students will receive an additional $10,000 to help cover fees.
Eligibility Criteria
Must be a newly admitted full-time student in a master’s or doctoral program.
Open to course-based or thesis students
Must have an Admission GPA of 3.7 or higher
How to Apply
There is no application form. Eligible students are considered on the recommendation of the admitting department. Students cannot apply for this scholarship.

Vanier Canada Graduate Scholarships

This Scholarship is one of Canada’s most prestigious graduate awards which offers $50,000 to Doctoral students for up to three years.
Eligibility Criteria
be enrolled full-time in a doctoral degree (including joint undergraduate/graduate research programs, such as MD/PhD, DVM/PhD, JD/PhD – if it has a demonstrated and significant research component). Note that only the PhD portion of a combined degree is eligible for funding.
have completed no more than 20 months of full-time study in their doctoral program.
If students are enrolled in a joint graduate research program, e.g., MD/PhD, MA/PhD, DVM/PhD then they do not have to complete more than 32 months of full-time study in their doctoral program.
have achieved first-class average (GPA of at least 3.5 on the U of A grading scale) in each of the last two years of full-time study (or equivalent.
How to apply
Notify your department of intention to apply for Vanier competition.
Complete the Vanier Preliminary Assessment package (you can get it from the official website of University of Alberta) and submit to the department by departmental deadline date.
One Reference Assessment Form must be completed and signed by each applicant’s current graduate supervisor.

Izaak Walton Killam Memorial Scholarship
This scholarship is awarded to outstanding students who registered themselves in a doctoral program.
Award value- The award is valued at up to $45,000 per year (renewable up to 2 years), plus any applicable International Graduate Differential Fee.
Eligibility criteria:
- No restrictions on citizenship. All fields are eligible for funding.
- Applicants must have completed at least one year of graduate work (master’s or doctoral level) before start of tenure.
How to apply:
Applicants must complete the Izaak Walton Killam Memorial Scholarship Application Form and ensure that this form and all other supporting documents including two letters of reference signed by each applicant’s referee,
Up-to-date transcripts of all undergraduate and graduate studies
are submitted to the department by departmental deadline.

Dorothy J Killam Memorial Graduate Prizes
There are 3 Dorothy Killam Prizes in total, recipients receive a cash prize of $5,000 and a certificate acknowledging their award.
There is no application form. Recipients are selected by the Graduate Scholarship Committee during the competition’s final selection meeting.
Alberta Innovates Graduate Student Scholarship
It is awarded to the superior graduate students undertaking full-time research-based Master’s or Doctoral degree at University of Alberta. Alberta Innovates funding is available to successful applicants as full scholarships.
Award value-
Master’s full value: $26,000
PhD full value: $31,000
Scholarship terms vary from one to four years.
Eligibility criteria:
There are no citizenship restrictions on this award.
Areas of study and research must fall into the categories funded by Alberta Innovates: ICT, Nanotechnology, or Omics

Andrew Stewart Memorial Graduate Prize
The prize value of $5000 is awarded to the full-time Doctoral students in all fields of study.
Eligibility criteria:
There are no restrictions on citizenship.
There is no minimum GPA requirement however, however selection is secondarily based on academic merit.
Students must have completed at least 24 months (2 years) in their doctoral program.
How to apply:
Application form, one letter of reference, Curriculum Vitae (maximum of 5 pages), up to date transcripts – students’ must submit the mentioned documents to their Department for internal adjudication.
