Donald A. Wehrung International Student Award

The value of your Donald A. Wehrung International Student Award is proportional to your financial need and sufficient to cover living expenses and tuition costs for your degree of study. The award may be renewed until your undergraduate study is completed.

Eligibility criteria:

  • Be an international student who will be studying in Canada on a Canadian study permit (student visa).
  • Applicants must register themselves as full-time students in undergraduate programs at UBC.

Vantage One Excellence Award

These awards are offered to undergraduate students entering the UBC Vantage One Program. It will cover the full cost of a student’s academic program and living expenses. The awards will be renewed for up to three additional years or to degree completion.

  • You must enroll yourself in undergraduate studies at UBC in the UBC Vantage One Program.

Trek Excellence Scholarship

Every year the top 5% of UBC’s undergraduate year, faculty, and school is honored with this Scholarship.

Domestic students receive an award of $1,500 and international students receive an award of $4,000. Awards of $1,000 are also given to international students who are in the top 5% to 10%.

Killam Doctoral Scholarships

Killam Doctoral Scholarships are the most prestigious awards available to graduate students at UBC. Each year 15-20 awards are offered to the top doctoral candidates.

Award value- an annual stipend is given worth $30,000 for two years plus a $2,000 allowance for research-related travel during the 24 months of the scholarship.

Eligibility criteria:

Applicants must have completed no more than 24 months of doctoral study as of the start date of the scholarship.

  • Students with a minimum first class standing in each of the last two years of full-time study are eligible to apply.

IDRC Doctoral Research Awards

Awards will cover the costs of field research conducted for a doctoral dissertation in one or more countries in the Global South.  Regions of the Global South are defined as: Middle East, North Africa, West Africa, East Africa, southern Africa, Southeast Asia, South Asia, Far East Asia, Caribbean, Central America, South America, Oceania.

Eligibility criteria:

  • This is open to Canadians, permanent residents of Canada, and citizens of developing countries pursuing doctoral studies at a Canadian university. (excluding countries in southern and eastern Europe, South Caucasus, and Central Asia but including Afghanistan).
  • You must be enrolled at a Canadian university at the doctoral level.
