What is Aikyashree Scholarship?

Aikyashree Scholarship is a program under WBMDFC (West Bengal Minority Development and Finance Corporation), operated by the government of West Bengal and its subsidiary boards. This scholarship is available for both school and college students who come from financially poor backgrounds and minority communities (Muslims, Christians, Sikhs, Buddhists, Parsis and Jains) in West Bengal. Students from Class 1 to PhD level can apply for various WB Government scholarship schemes through the WBMDFC Aikyashree Scholarship Portal. Aikyashree Scholarship is a fully funded Scholarship Scheme which provides hostel fees, free of cost school and college education for meritorious students. The main objective of Aikyashree Scholarship is to encourage the students of minority communities to continue their education and increase their employability potential by providing all the required financial assistance.

List of WBMDFC Aikyashree Scholarship 2023-24

West Bengal Minorities Development & Finance Corporation (WBMDFC) is providing the following scholarship schemes through Aikyashree Scholarship Portal. Students can apply for these 5 government scholarship schemes.

  1. WB Pre-matric Scholarship
  2. WB Post-matric Scholarship
  3. WB Merit-cum-means Scholarship
  4. Swami Vivekananda Merit cum Means Scholarship
  5. WB Talent Support Scholarship

Aikyashree Scholarship 2023-24 Eligibility Criteria

In order to apply for Aikyashree Scholarship, candidates must fulfill the following criteria which are different for different types of Aikyashree Scholarships. Students need to apply for the scholarships as per their education level.

West Bengal pre-matric Scholarship

  • The student must be a permanent resident of West Bengal.
  • Students must be studying from class I-X in a school/institution recognized by an educational board/ council/ University of the Stare/ Central government.
  • The annual family income of the candidate should not exceed Rs.2 lakhs from all sources.
  • Students pursuing their studies outside West Bengal are not eligible for this scholarship.

West Bengal post-matric Scholarship

  • The student must be a domicile of West Bengal.
  • Students must be pursuing higher secondary, ITI, Diploma, Graduation, Post graduation, M.Phil, B.Ed etc from recognised institutions in West Bengal.
  • The annual family income of the candidate should not exceed ₹2 lakhs from all sources.
  • Students should have obtained at least 50% marks or equivalent grades in the previous final examination.
  • Students pursuing their studies outside West Bengal are not eligible for this scholarship.

WBMDFC Merit cum Means Scholarship

  • The student must be a permanent resident of West Bengal.
  • Students who pursue undergraduate/postgraduate/ professional/technical courses in recognised institutions in West Bengal can apply.
  • Students pursuing their courses in any of the listed institutions only like IIT, IIM, NIT, NIFT, IIFT etc. in or outside West Bengal can also apply.
  • The annual family income of the candidate should not exceed ₹2.5 lakhs from all sources.
  • Students should have obtained at least 50% marks or equivalent grades in the previous final examination.

WBMDFC Swami Vivekananda Merit cum Means Scholarship:

  • students pursuing studies from class XI to Postgraduate in Regular courses including Diploma (Polytechnic) and Diplomacy in Pharmacy.
  • The applicant must be a permanent resident of West Bengal.
  • The annual family income of the candidate should not exceed ₹2.5 lakhs from all sources.
  • Students, who passed the Madhyamik Exam with at least 75% marks and took admission on Higher Secondary (10+2) course in Arts / Science / Commerce streams, are eligible.
  • Candidates must have obtained at least 75% marks in the HS examination and have taken admission in the first year of Undergraduate course in Engineering/ Medical/ General Education/ GNM Nursing/ Para Medical Diploma Course.
  • Students who enrolled themselves in the 2nd year of Undergraduate course in Engineering on lateral entry basis after passing out Diploma course (with 75% the minimum) in relevant disciplines from the Polytechnic Colleges are eligible.
  • Students who took admission for the first-year Diploma (Polytechnic) course after passing out in Madhyamik examination with minimum 75% marks can apply.
  • Candidates must obtain at least 53% marks in Honours subjects at the UG level and have to enroll in the first-year class of Post Graduate course.
  • Candidates must obtain at least 55% marks in Engineering courses  and have to enroll in the masters in engineering.

WB Talent Support Programme (TSP) Scholarship

  • Be studying in Class 11 to PhD level (except professional and technical courses).
  • Be a domicile of West Bengal
  • Have passed the previous final examination with less than 50% marks
  • The annual family income of the candidate should not exceed ₹2 lakhs from all sources.
  • Only 2 students can apply from one family.
  • Students pursuing their studies outside West Bengal are not eligible for this scholarship.

Aikyashree Scholarship 2023-24 Amount and Benefits

  1. Pre-matric Scholarship: (Scholarship amount ranges from Rs.1,100 to Rs.11,000 per annum, subject to actuals)
  • Class I to V Students-

Maintenance allowance for day Scholars is INR 1100.

  • Class VI to X students-

Admission fee and tuition fee for day Scholars is INR 4,400 and maintenance allowance for day Scholars is INR 1,100.

  • Class VI to X students-

Admission fee and tuition fee for hostellers is INR 4,400 and maintenance allowance for hostellers is INR 6,600.

  • Post-matric Scholarship: (Scholarship amount maximum upto 16,500 per annum, subject to actuals)
  • General course students in Class XI & XII-

Maintenance Allowance for day Scholars– INR 2,500

Medical Engineering, Management, Law, Chartered Accountant, etc. courses admission fee & tuition fee waiver for day Scholars is ₹22,000 and maintenance allowance for day Scholars is ₹5,500

  1. WBMDFC Swami Vivekananda Merit cum Means Scholarship: (Scholarship amount ranges from ₹12,000 to ₹60,000 per annum).

Note- Students must secure at least 60% in undergraduate courses and 50% in post graduate courses in last year examination are eligible to renew the Swami Vivekananda Merit Cum Means Scholarship.

  1. WB Talent Support Programme (TSP) Scholarship

(Scholarship amount ranges from ₹2,550 to ₹4,900 per annum).

  • Students of Class XI and XII will get a total amount of INR 2,550.
  • Students of Graduation will get a total amount of INR 4,800
  • Students of Post Graduation will get a total amount of INR 4,900

How to apply for Aikyashree Scholarship

In order to know the complete online application process for Aikyashree Scholarship, students need to follow the below mentioned steps.

Step 1- Student Registration

  • Visit the official website of WBMDFC portal.
  • Then scroll down and click on the scholarship tab according to the Eligibility Criteria which you have fulfilled among pre-matric, post-matric, merit cum means, TSP, SVMCM.
  • After that click the “New Registration” button.
  • Then fill all the details in the registration form- your name, father’s name, mother’s name, gender, religion, mobile number, bank account number, bank IFSC code. After entering the captcha click on ” Submit and Proceed”.

Step 2- Scheme Eligibility:

Now you have to enter the details in the scheme eligibility column on the webpage like the current institution, its location, class or course name, the last exam passed, name of the board, year of passing the last exam, percentage marks obtained, annual family income and email ID. Then click on the “Submit and Proceed” button.

Step 3- Registration successful:

After completing Registration successfully, you see the Scholarship Name, for which you are eligible. A temporary USER ID will be generated. You will receive user ID and password on your registered email.

 Step 4- Student’s Login:

Login to the website using your User ID and password. Then provide the below mentioned information-

  • Basic Information
  • Academic Information
  • Bank Account Information

Step 5- Final Submission

Verify all the details by clicking the preview tab before final submission of your Aikyashree Scholarship Application form. If all the provided information is correct then click on “Final Submit” button.

Step 6- Print out and submit for verification

Once your application is locked successfully, take a print out of the filled application form. Sign on it and submit this application form to the head of your institution, along with a photocopy of Bank passbook containing bank account number and IFSC code.

Aikyashree Scholarship documents required:

The candidates who want to apply for Aikyashree Scholarship are requested to gather all the below mentioned documents. These documents will be required during the application process.

  • Domicile certificate of West Bengal
  • Income certificate
  • Fee receipt of the current course year
  • Mark sheet of previous qualifying exam
  • Passport size photograph of the applicant
  • Photocopy of bank passbook containing IFSC code and account number
  • Self-certified community certificate

Selection process for Aikyashree Scholarship:

For Aikyashree Scholarship students will be selected on the basis of merit and family income. Once the merit list is prepared, the scholarship is disbursed to students in their respective accounts.

Applicants can easily check their online application status from the official website of WBMDFC or Aikyashree Scholarship by login with their Application Id and Password.

How to check Aikyashree Scholarship Application Status

If you want to check your Aikyashree Scholarship application status, please follow the below given steps.

  1. At first go to the official website of WBMDFC portal.
  2. Then click on “Track an application” under Aikyashree Scholarship.
  3. Select the district where your institution is located and submit.
  4. After that enter the details- year of Registration, District, Application ID, Date of Birth. After filling the captcha click on “Submit” button.

How to renew Aikyashree Scholarship Application

Students can apply once for Aikyashree Scholarship. In order to get this scholarship every year, candidates need to renew the scholarship application every year.

  1. Visit the official website of WBMDFC portal.
  2. Click on the Renewal Application option under Aikyashree Scholarship and a new window will be open.
  3. Select the district where your institution is located and submit.
  4. Then you have to login by entering Application ID, Date of Birth, District and captcha code. (If you forget your User ID, then click on “Forgot User ID”).
  5. After filling all the above mentioned details, an OTP will be sent to your registered mobile number. Enter the sent OPT and submit.
  6. Choose the “Renew Application” between two options- “Renew Application” and “Withdraw Application”.
  7. Then provide all the necessary details name, date of birth, email ID, parent’s name, gender, religion,

previous and current academic details etc and click on “Submit and Next”.

  1. Check and verify your bank details like IFSC, bank and branch name, bank account number and name in the bank account as per passbook.
  2. Tick the confirmation box ‘I confirm that the bank account details are ok to the best of my knowledge & belief’ and Click on “Submit and Next“.
  3. Upload the necessary documents with the form and submit the application form by clicking Submit and Next tab.
  4. Before final submitting the form you need to review the details. If everything is correct then Click on the Submit and Lock Renewal Application tab.
  5. Finally click on the “Print Renewal Application” to get a print out of the application form.

Other Terms and conditions of Aikyashree Scholarship:

  • If any candidate receives another Scholarship from another source, he/she will not be able to avail this scholarship.
  • One mobile number can be used for the registration of one Application only. Maximum two Applications can be filled through one mobile number only for Pre-matric Scholarship.
  • Scholarship amount will be credited to the student’s bank account through the Direct Benefit Transfer (DBT) mode.

WBMDFC Educational Loan

Apart from Aikyashree Scholarship, West Bengal Minority Development and Finance Corporation (WBMDFC) provides educational loan for the students of minority community.

Eligibility criteria for WBMDFC Educational Loan

  • Applicant must be a domicile of West Bengal.
  • This scholarship is offered to students pursuing technical and professional courses like Medical, Engineering, Management, Nursing, and Law, BCA, MCA etc. in India and abroad.
  • The age of the applicant should be from 16 to 32 years.
  • Annual family income of the candidate should not exceed ₹1,20,000 for urban area from all sources and should not be more than ₹98,000 for rural area.
  • Students pursuing courses overseas are also eligible to apply.

Loan amount and Interest Rate

Maximum INR 20 lakhs loan amount is given to students studying within the country.

Maximum Rs. 30 lakhs loan amount is given to students pursuing education in abroad.

Students can repay the loan with 3% interest in quarterly installments after 6 months of completing their course of employment, whichever is earlier.
